Dolly Does Dallas
I’m so thankful that the NFL has started making a bigger deal out of the halftime shows during the Thanksgiving games. Why save the spectacle for the Super Bowl? And this year, they really delivered during Thursday’s game between the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders. On such a distinctly American holiday, during a uniquely American sport, it’s only right to bring out an absolute American icon—Dolly Parton.
Dolly was resplendent in her version of the Dallas Cowboys cheerleader uniform—complete with illusion body suit and a star on her belly button. She gave a great performance of her classic, Jolene, and a couple songs off her new Rockstar album. I’m curious if there was some sort of stage malfunction, because instead of appearing atop the giant star at centerfield, she stuck to a small spot in front of the star. But no matter how big or small a stage, Dolly dazzled as usual.
